And don’t say an IPA. I hate IPAs.

LBS hooked me UP with a wheel, cassette, tube and tire for my trainer. Only $125.

Hahaha can you imagine if our moms thought we were doing shorter triathlons, only to show up and find out, JUST KIDDING, IRONMAN! Time to watch your baby suffer! Bwahaha!

The only major race she’s seen me do was the marathon earlier this year, which did not go well for me. Which is probably is huge part of why she doesn’t want me doing an IM.
My dad, on the other hand, has seen me do far more races (including the half IM), and probably understands the marathon was a weird, horrible day for me…and not necessarily indicative of how the IM would go.

Hahaha ahh NO. I’m definitely not asking my mother for permission to do an Ironman. As an adult who is fully supporting herself, I certainly don’t have to!
I would just love to have her support, instead of her a) telling me I’m hurting my body or b) suggesting I take up golf, water aerobics, or yoga.
Also wish I could talk openly about how excited I am about this stuff without the weird comments.
If she doesn’t want to cheer me on, that’s fine. I’ll still be out there doing it either way!

Had a nice drive to and from a wedding with my folks, and we got to talking about IMTX going on today. Of course, I brought up how I really want to race it next year…
Mom’s still not having it.
I guess I’m just a little sad at the sort of “empty” support I get from my mom regarding my athletic endeavors.
Instead of “why do you do that to yourself??” … I’d love to hear “I see you worked hard and that you enjoy what you’re doing, way to go.”
She also told me today she thinks I should take up golf.

Umm I definitely printed a copy out for my parents. 5x7.
I feel like this is destined to be a picture they only put out when they know I’m coming to visit…
Also, my parents comments when given the picture…
Mom: This is a moment I say you look just like your dad!
Dad: Those EYES…

One of the comments on Facebook: “It’s absurd trying to drive by market st/waterway. And seriously the roads are already closed tomorrow do they really need to take up all the roads today.”
It’s not like these triathletes have been training their asses off for months and months, with all their hard work culminating in this hugely exciting weekend…
…she can’t get to J. Crew. The HORROR!
But seriously, best of luck to your hubby tomorrow!! I’ll be thinking about him and everyone else racing! 24 hours and it’s over :)

Someone just posted this on facebook:
Get these Ironmen out of here! Can’t they find a farm in Cleveland or somewhere that they can run, swim, and bike at. Why must it take place in the middle of a city?!
I wish there was a “bitch slap” button on FB. Let’s talk about what YOU’RE doing (drinking and being a dbag) and what these triathletes are doing (being absolute badasses).

P.S. Cleveland, TX…not Cleveland, OH. IMTX takes place in The Woodlands, a FAR north suburb of Houston (anyone who lives in Houston knows it’s in BFE, hardly “the city”).
